WOOD STAINS

10 Mar, 2021

Other than when colored with opaque paints, stains generally allow to keep the structure of the wood visible. This enhanced attractiveness, makes stains the preferred way to match wood to the color of any style of interior or environment. In general, there are 3 different types of stains available, which differentiate by matrix. Common systems are either waterborne, oil-based (gel-types) or solvent solvent based. Our range - PHILOPON - is particularly recommended for the later but is also suitable for coloration of gel-types. Stains based on our dyes penetrate the wooden surface very fast and deeply and leave a very intense color on the surface. As solvent based stains, they take a very short time to dry and as gel, they additionally allow - thanks to the pudding-like-consistency, clean and comfortable over-head work. Thanks to the excellent solubility of our dyes, PHILOPON products can simply stirred-in into the liquid or pasty carrier. If needed, additional additives to improve the performance, or components to de-luster the shade can also be added.
